Lessons by Level

Level 1, Introduction to the Horse

Progressive steps to establish a healthy presence with horses including leading, handling, and interacting confidently and well.

Level 2, Horse Care and Grooming

For thousands of years, people have known that horses require very specific care to be healthy partners with humans. Students will learn how horses should be fed, watered, and cared for on a daily basis. Our horses love to have their manes braided and pictures taken.

Level 3, Introduction to the Bareback Horse

The first step in learning to ride horses well is bareback riding in a small controlled space on a very gentle horse. Being able to feel the horse's movements underneath you without a saddle is both therapeutic and instructive.

Level 4, Basic Horsemanship and Riding

Beyond equine therapy, Oxford Equine and Wellness also offers basic riding instruction including saddling and bridleing, mounting and dismounting, walk and trott transitions in a closed arena.

Level 5, Advanced Horsemanship and Riding

Level 5 includes walking, trotting, loping, ponying an additional horse, basic ranch roping, and cross-country riding.
